man: make tilde and caret characters to render correctly
As mentioned in 'Generating optimal glyphs' title in the manual page
mentioned in reference:

Where a proper caret (^) that renders well in both a terminal and PDF is
    required, use "\(ha".

Using a naked "~" character results in a poor rendering in PDF. Instead
    use "\(ti".

Michael Kerrisk (man-pages) 4f68c8b179 Manual pages: various: reword "allow(s) to"
The wording "allow(s) to" is not grammatical English. Reword various
pages to use a more correct form such "can be use to" or "allows
the [noun] of".

Aklong the way, fix a few nearby wording errors in some pages.

Bjarni Ingi Gislason 39063fbe89 Subject: docs: disk-utils: change "allows to <verb>" to "allows <verb>ing"
The web site "lintian.debian.org" shows some examples of "allows to",
which are changed to "allows one to".

I chose here to use gerund.

Michael Kerrisk (man-pages) 1538f6f636 Manual pages: wording fix: "another" ==> "other"
In several pages, there is a consistent wording problem: "another"
where "other" should be used. This wording problem can be
surprisingly confusing for native speakers, especially those
unaware that in some other languages, "another" and "other" can be
expressed with the same word.

Michael Kerrisk (man-pages) ade04bb89c Manual pages: order AUTHORS / COPYRIGHT / SEE ALSO / AVAILABILITY consistently
There is value in ensuring that manual page sections use consistently
named sections, as far as possible, and also that sections have a
consistent order within manual pages. This is one of a series of patches
to place manual page sections in a consistent order.

In this patch, we ensure that the AUTHORS, COPYRIGHT, SEE ALSO, and
AVAILABILITY sections are always placed at the end of the page.

Testing that no gross editing mistake (causing accidental loss or addition
of text) was performed as follows:

    $ cat $(grep '\.SH' -l $(find . -name '*.[1-9]') |sort) | sort > a
    [Apply patch]
    $ cat $(grep '\.SH' -l $(find . -name '*.[1-9]') |sort) | sort > b
    $ diff a b
    $ echo $?

Michael Kerrisk (man-pages) 5a82980632 docs: (man) remove double quotes (") in .SH lines
Using double quotes in .SH lines containing multiple words is unneeded,
and in any case is not consistently done in the util-linux manual pages,
where double quotes are used in only around half of the cases.
(This usage was long ago elminated in the man-pages project, with
no ill effects reported to date.)

Remove these quotes, so that .SH lines are more uniform, in preparation
for some (more easily) scripted doiscovery of consistency problems in
(and possibly global fixes to) the manual pages.

Other than stripping the double quotes, this patch makes no changes to
the content of the manual pages.

Karel Zak f2229320a9 fdisk: add --noauto-pt
The default partition table depends on system arch, for example on
Sparc it's SUN and on x86_64 it's MBR. This option forces fdisk to
keep the device empty and allow user to create non-default PT in more
elegant way.

Bjarni Ingi Gislason eb02489380 man pages: Add a comma after "e.g." and "i.e."
Add a comma (,) after "e.g." and "i.e.", or use English words
(man-pages(7) [package "manpages"]).

Abbreviation points should be protected (usually with the
non-printing, zero width character '\&') from being interpreted as an
end of sentence, if they are not, and that independent of their current
place on the line.

This is important when typing, as one does not usually know in
advance when the editor jumps to a new line.

docs: try to find broken man references and fix them
Unfortunately methods I used to find and fix were based on quite manual
process that cannot be easily repeated so I do not see how this fix could be
turned into a tools/checkmans.sh addition. Well, lets hope doing this
manually twice every decade is good enough.

Karel Zak ba465623d8 fdisk: add --wipe-partitions=auto|never|default
The option allows to remove filesystes/RAIDs from newly created
partitions before the partition table is updated (and partition
device created).

The default is "auto" in this case wipe is enabled in interactive mode
only and user's confirmation (yes/no dialog) is required. Note that
keep filesystem signature on partition is pretty valid use-case, so we
don't erase anything by default.

Karel Zak cb9a4b0033 fdisk: add --wipe
This patch changes fdisk behavior and it wipes foreign signatures
from the device to avoid collisions. The wipe functionality is
automatically enabled in the interactive mode only (user is always
warned about it), otherwise it's possible to control all by --wipe
<auto|never|always>.

The program does not change behavior when executed in scripts (echo
<something> | fdisk), the option "--wipe=always" is required to enable
in this case.
